Review: Disney's The Lion King - absolutely, go! But make me one promise...

Absolutely!  Go see Disney’s The Lion King.  But you have to make me one promise!

After 13 years there isn’t much that hasn’t already been said about Disney’s The Lion King.  This theatrical spectacle is like nothing you have seen before in a way that only Disney can present it.  Breathtaking puppetry, outstanding singing, amazing dancing, a story that is both hilarious and touching; really, one would be hard pressed to find anything to dislike about this show that has something for both kids and adults alike.

So, in my shortest review ever, I simply say: go, be entertained and marvel at the magic on stage.

But… here comes that promise I am asking you to make!

Promise me that this will not be the only live theatre show you take in this year.  With prices for Disney’s The Lion King befitting its mega-musical status, your decision to go could mean less money to spend on local theatre and that could mean missing out on an incredible array of local talent.

For the kids there is some amazing work coming out of local groups like Carousel Theatre and Green Thumb Theatre.  For the adults, Vancouver's hugely diverse theatre scene, so full of incredible talent both on and off stage, is just waiting to entertain you as well.

So, by all means, go see Disney's The Lion King, you will not be disappointed  Just keep your promise, okay?
