Vancouver’s Pacific Theatre has announced it will open its 2010/2011season on September 24th with the gay themed The Busy World is Hushed.

The Busy World is HushedThe Busy World is Hushed tells the story of Hannah, a widowed Episcopal minister, who hires an agnostic gay man as her scholarly assistant, discovers she may have found the missing link in an estranged relationship with her wayward son. Mixing sexual politics with spiritual contradictions, her motivations are called into question when secrets from the past begin to surface.  A powerful exploration of faith and fear, The Busy World is Hushed probes the passions and distortions of religion, relationships, and the human heart.

TheatreMania.com said: "…intricacies of faith—as well as issues of sexuality, love and loss—are addressed in this provocative and moving new play…a refreshing take on the overlap between religion and homosexuality."

In addition to The Busy World is Hushed, the 2010/2011 Pacific Theatre season will also include Playland by Athol Fugard, Christmas on the Air by Lucia Frangione, My Name is Asher Lev adapted by Aaron Posner from the novel by Chaim Potok, Jesus Hopped the “A” Train by Stephen Adly Guirgis, Jake’s Gift by Julia Mackey, and The Great Divorce adapted by George Drance & The Magis Theatre from the novel by C.S. Lewis.

Season subscription passes for Pacific Theatre start at $59 for a four show sampler.  Visit http://www.pacifictheatre.org for tickets and information or call 604.731.5518.

Founded in 1984, Pacific Theatre was founded by a group of actors who wanted to establish a non-propagandist professional theatre where they would be free to explore work having particular meaning to them as Christians.
