Gay American Playwright Edward Albee’s Pulitzer Prize-winning The Zoo Story, with its underlying queer sensibility, will be paired with Michael Weller’s At Home in a production titled IN TWO at the Havana beginning July 7th.
In a recent interview, The Zoo Story actor Benjamin Elliott (pictured right with Jay Clift) views the show as an opportunity for audiences to “see some good ol’ realistic acting” and because it is being produced in the intimate Havana theatre it will provide “an environment of immersion and intensity that is hard to do in a larger space”. “The audience will taste the uncomfortable feelings we all get when we are approached by a stranger as Peter encounters Jerry and they’ll be able to see the whites our eyes and the small twitches of our face as Jay [Clift] and I interact on stage”, said Elliott. “It’s going to be a ‘real’ experience”. IN TWO is a collaborative work by six young performers and directors who met while attending Vancouver’s acclaimed Studio 58 theatre program. IN TWO (The Zoo Story & At Home) |
